Creative Labs Zen X-Fi 2 8 GB MP3 and Video Player with Touchscreen and Built-In Speaker

This is an excellent product and is easy to use straight out of the box.

I pre-ordered this Zen Xfi2 player after hearing my friend’s Zen Xfi which was excellent quality. I thought it could only be better with the larger touch screen. The touch screen wouldn’t scroll properly. I finally got it to scroll a couple of times but it gave intermittent performance on the scrolling both directions.
I checked Creative Labs’ website and found a firmware update which I installed. It still wouldn’t work. I have returned it to Amazon.com for a refund.

I have owned a Zen Vision M for 2 years now and really thought the X-Fi2 touch would be a nice addition, both 32G. Wrong! As other reviewers reported, the touch screen is difficult to get used to. One time you find yourself pressing hard to get the screen moving, and the next time you start to scroll you are playing a song that you didn’t indend to. I also ran calibration twice.
The Creative Centrale wouldn’t load on my computer due to my system being older than XP Media Center 2005…..does not support my 2002 version. Would have to spend $120.00 to upgrade…yah, right. So using Windows Media Player as my only recourse, I found I could only load songs ripped fromm CD’s. Any purchased MP3 player music will not load through Media Player.
The Zen Vision M software works flawlessly with my system, and I have absolutley no problems with the player or the software.
I would have gone 2.5 on the rating if I could have. The touch is a step backwards for Creative and I am a long time customer of their products.

I was excited to see that Creative was releasing this mp3 player. The player functions just like the other creative players, I’ve had two of them so far. The only problem that’s really annoying is that the player didn’t come with any converter software for videos. I can still play my unconverted xvid files on the player but with major lag; the sound is out of sync with what’s playing on the screen. This flaw is extremely dissapointing and I’m trying to see if I can find a fix for it, if anybody has any suggestions that would help.

I would not buy this model unless you want to be very frustrated. Sound quality and battery life OK and it looks sleek. However, the screen does not respond easily to the touch as is advertised. Also, the device just is not user friendly and I am pretty computer savy. I purchased this item primarily to download books from a library site and it just doesn’t work no matter what I have tried. If I could easily get my money back, I would return it and try something else.
